CRPO Case-Based Assessment
Practise the CBA
before the CBA.
Every Registered Psychotherapist completes the Case-Based Assessment about once every five years. Most people prepare by re-reading the Standards and hoping for the best. CBA Prep lets you actually do it first — 150 original cases, timed simulations, and scored feedback on every answer.
The hardest part isn't the content.
It's the format.
You know the Practice Standards. You've worked inside them for years. But the CBA doesn't ask you to recite them — it hands you a messy clinical situation, five plausible-sounding options, and asks you to rank all five from most to least aligned. Every position is scored.
The difference between a strong result and a weak one usually isn't the top answer. It's the middle of the ranking. That's a skill — and it's one you can practise.

The lawyer's email
A law firm emails requesting your client's complete file for a family-court matter. Attached is a consent form your client signed eight months ago — for a records release to a different party, for a different purpose.
Rank these from most aligned (1) to least aligned (5):
Send the complete file. A signed consent is on hand.
Contact your client to confirm current consent for this specific disclosure, release only what is authorized, and document the decision.
Refuse all disclosure regardless of what the client wants.
Send a summary letter instead of the file, without checking with the client.
Phone the lawyer to discuss the case in general terms before deciding what to send.
Harder than it looks — and this is one of 150.
What you get
Learning Mode
Case by case, with answers
Work through cases one at a time. Rank the options, then see the panel-style key, your points on every option, and a written explanation of why each response lands where it does — tied to the relevant Practice Standard. This is where the learning actually happens.
Simulation Mode
The full timed rehearsal
A start-to-finish run under exam conditions: 30 sequential cases, a running clock against the four-hour guideline, a question map for review, and a scored report measured against the 80% mastery benchmark. Run it as many times as you like.
- 150 original cases — 25 in each of the six Practice Standard sections, written for this tool and nowhere else
- The real format — five options, ranked, scored on how closely your sequence matches the optimal one
- Fresh cases first — run multiple full simulations before you ever see a repeat
- Mastery tracking — see your accuracy by Standard and know exactly where to focus
- Progress that saves — close the tab mid-simulation and pick it up later
- Works on any device — practise on your laptop between clients or your phone on the bus
Counts toward your PD hours
It isn't just prep.
It's professional development.
CRPO's Quality Assurance Program recognizes self-directed learning — including structured case-based study. Working through all 150 cases, reviewing the rationales, and completing timed simulations represents roughly 25–30 hours of learning activity you can record in your Learning Record. The tool you bought to reduce your CBA anxiety also covers a meaningful chunk of your professional development cycle.
Built by people who do this all day
CBA Prep was created by Ontario Psychotherapy and Supervision Corporation — the team behind OntarioSupervision.ca, which has matched hundreds of Ontario psychotherapists with clinical supervisors. We spend our working lives inside the CRPO Practice Standards: interpreting them, supervising against them, and helping therapists apply them to the situations that actually walk through the door. That's what these 150 cases are made of.
CBA Prep is an independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or reviewed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. All cases are original scenarios informed by the CRPO Professional Practice Standards; answer keys reflect our professional interpretation, not official CRPO answer keys.
Questions
How long do I have access?
Indefinitely. It's a one-time $129 purchase, not a subscription. Come back for your next assessment cycle in five years — new cases will have been added by then, at no extra cost.
Are these the real CBA questions?
No — and any tool claiming otherwise should worry you. CRPO's cases are confidential and copyrighted. All 150 of ours are original scenarios written to match the real assessment's format, difficulty, and standards coverage.
I haven't been selected for the CBA yet. Is it too early?
It's the ideal time. CRPO notifies registrants roughly three months before their assessment window. Practising before that notice arrives means you're preparing calmly rather than cramming — and you're logging PD hours either way.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser on any device, and your progress saves automatically on whichever device you're using.
What happens right after I pay?
You get immediate access. No waiting, no shipping, no scheduled cohort — start your first case within a minute of checkout.
You don't walk into the CBA cold.
You walk in having already done it — a dozen times, under the clock, with the score in front of you.
